Loulé marks, this Tuesday, the World Tourism Day with several activities, in a program that starts, at 8:30 am, at the Hotel Tivoli Victoria, in Vilamoura, with a breakfast for the council's hotel directors, served with local products.

In this initiative, the products and a representative group of producers will be presented, guaranteeing some production/supply capacity not only for the daily breakfast, but also for the realization of occasional events.

With this initiative, the municipality intends to highlight the possibility of 4 and 5 star hotel units providing their customers with a differentiating offer, capable of contributing to the qualification of the Algarve destination, while at the same time draining quality local production.

The «Breakfast Algarve» project provides an important stimulus to sectors of economic activity that are fundamental for sustaining the environment, the landscape and the territory's identity, allowing the hotel industry to demonstrate social and environmental responsibility in its exercise, by contributing to the viability and development fragile economic sectors, but essential for the maintenance and regeneration of the region's territory and for the reduction of C02 emissions by consuming local products.

 In the afternoon, at 15:30 pm, the activities of the World Tourism Day take place in the interior of the municipality, in the parish of Ameixial, with the inauguration of walking routes.

At 16 pm, the inauguration of the Ameixial Auto-Caravan parking lot will take place, with capacity for 00 places. This equipment is located in the former cork factory and is intended to be an important contribution to promoting self-caravaning in these depressed areas of the interior, a component of tourism combined with the environment, which is gaining more and more followers all over the world.

At 18 pm, in the Auditorium of the INUAF – Instituto Superior Dom Afonso III, in Loulé, Cristina Ventura, director of the Longevity Wellness Resort Monchique, presents a conference on the theme “Sustainable Tourism”.

 The Tourism Day celebrations end with a cocktail of regional products, at 19 pm, at the Castelo de Loulé, where innovative cocktails made with traditional products such as figs, carob or almonds will be presented.

Throughout the day, the municipality of Loulé offers visitors to the Tourist Offices, tastings of regional liqueurs and cakes.
