The auditorium of the Algarve Regional Coordination and Development Commission (CCDR Algarve) will host, next Friday, September 30, between 9:30 am and 13:00 pm, a workshop entitled “For the Strengthening of the Economy of the Sea in the Regions of the Atlantic Area”. 

The event includes two presentations to frame the themes to be debated at the round table. Flávio Martins, vice-rector and president of the installing committee of Plataforma Mar do Algarve, will present the ambitions and strategic vision of the newly created association, while Hugo Pinto, member of the KIMERAA project coordination team, will present the Directory of the tool Sea, now available on line (www.kimeraa.eu/map), and the results of the study “Maritime clusters: Actors and institutions of innovation in the Atlantic Area”, which involved several European regions.

In the second part of the workshops, two parallel work sessions will take place, where entrepreneurs and other regional actors present will be asked to identify problems, objectives and concrete actions for the dynamization of the sea cluster, namely through the Algarve Sea Platform and participation in European transfer networks knowledge, such as ENKTAA – European Network for the transfer of knowledge in the Atlantic Area.

The initiative is organized by the University of Algarve/CRIA, CCDR Algarve and Plataforma Mar do Algarve and corresponds to one of the actions of the project “KIMERAA – Transfer of knowledge to improve the marine economy in regions of the Atlantic Area”, led by UAlg and co-financed by the European Atlantic Area Transnational Cooperation Program through the European Regional Development Fund.
