The Commission for the Protection of Children and Youth (CPCJ) of Vila Real de Santo António has done a quality job in the protection of children and youth, by working in a network with the various partner institutions and projects. 

The conclusions were presented during the seminar «Childhood Protection and Promotion: national, regional and local public policies», which this Friday took place in Vila Real de Santo António and brought together a dozen entities.

During the seminar, which was destined to mark the 10th anniversary of the local CPCJ, the message was left that "it is up to all citizens to work for the non-existence of children at risk", a commitment that the services of the Vilarrealense municipality claim to already guarantee « daily in the many interventions and daily services of the Social Action Division».

At the meeting, the valences of the National System for the Promotion and Protection of Children's Rights were also disclosed and the policies for its implementation were characterized.

The debate forum ended with the presentation of the local projects that have been developed in the municipality, namely the work carried out by the Gente Pequena Reception Centre, the Escolhas Vivas Project and the Integrated Education and Training Programme.

There were also performances by the youth tuna of the Vila Real de Santo António Parish Council and by the Flamenco group of Projeto Escolhas, activities aimed at the correct occupation of the free time of young people from Vila Real and their integration into the local community.
