The XV Meeting of Geoscience Teachers from Alentejo and Algarve (DPGA) took place on the weekend of 8 and 9 October, organized by the João da Rosa School Group, in Olhão.

These meetings bring together primary and secondary school teachers in the areas of Biology and Geology, Geography and Physics and Chemistry, and are held annually, alternately in Alentejo and Algarve.

This year, the João da Rosa School Group, in Olhão, was invited by the DPGA Association to organize the Meeting. The School's management appointed Professor Nuno Magalhães as coordinator of this organization.

The Meeting has the character of a scientific congress, with a first day of lectures guided by academics and researchers in the field of Geosciences, and a field trip on the second day.

As the theme of this year's meeting was the Geology of the Ria Formosa, the lectures took place in the Auditorium of the Headquarters of the Ria Formosa Natural Park, with its privileged location.

The field trip took place by boat, in the channels of the Ria Formosa and in the barrier islands.

During the break between the lectures, there was a snack for the approximately seventy participating teachers, prepared by CEF students from the João da Rosa School Group.

Lunch at the Meeting was served in the Agrupamento canteen, and was also prepared by the team of CEF students and teachers. In the evening, there was dinner, and after the meal there was a cultural moment, in which the participants in the Meeting were able to walk through the streets of downtown Olhão, guided by a specialist from the Municipal Museum, who spoke about some of the most significant aspects of the history and the legends of the city of Olhão.

This meeting had the technical, logistical and material support of the Municipality of Olhão.
