The Pediatric Emergency Department at the Hospital de Faro will be closed between 9:00 am this Sunday, November 10th, and 9:00 am on Monday, November 11th, during which time assistance will be provided by Portimão Hospital.
However, the Pediatric Emergency Service in Portimão will be open from 9:00 am on Saturday until 9:00 am on Sunday with only doctors who are not specialists in pediatrics. The Delivery Ward in Portimão will also be open without interruption, but with the presence of a pediatrician.
The clarification was given by the Algarve Local Health Unit (ULSAlg) this Friday, 8th, after information circulated that the Pediatric Emergency Service of Faro would be closed between 21pm on the 00th and 7am on the 9th, as reported the Morning Mail.
In a note sent to the editorial offices, ULSAlg also emphasizes that, in Faro, both the delivery block and neonatal and pediatric intensive care will operate without interruption.
«There is thus guaranteed coverage for children and newborns in the Algarve, permanently, operating in a network between the two main hospitals in the region, as is desirable in the Local Health Unit model», they state.
