“Roots and Post-Memory” is the theme of the sixth edition of the ROOTS Project in Lagos

The sixth edition of the ROOTS Project will take place in Lagos from November 11th to December 30th, with the theme “Roots and Post-Memory”, in an initiative by LAC – Creative Activities Laboratory.

This edition includes artistic residencies and an exhibition, curated by A. Pedro Correia, as well as a parallel programme, open to the public, which includes debates and conferences in partnership with the Lagos Museum, a film series curated by Patrícia Leal and guided visits to the exhibition, by the LAC educational service.

In April and May 2025, the exhibition will tour Caldas da Rainha and Guimarães, in partnership with the Arts Center and CAAA-Center for Art and Architecture Affairs, respectively, accompanied by mediation activities.

The artistic residency has the participation of artists Blackson Afonso (Angola), Eugenia Mussa (Mozambique), Jose Miguel Gervasio (Portugal) and Márcio Carvalho (Portugal).

It will be held at the LAC facilities and aims to explore the multiple layers of cultural and ancestral memory, encouraging artistic creation that reflects on collective and personal heritage.

All activities in the program are free to enter and participate.
