Portimonense put an end to a five-game winless streak in the II Football League this Saturday, by winning at the home of the “bottom of the table” Oliveirense, 2-0, with goals from Ruan and Chico Banza, in a game of the 11th round of the competition.
In the match between the last two teams in the second division at the start of this round, Brazilian Ruan opened the scoring in the 24th minute, with his first goal for the Algarve team, and Angolan Chico Banza sealed the final result in the 69th minute.
Nuno Campos and Diogo Ferreira were the new additions to the Algarve team's starting eleven after the home draw (1-1) with Vizela.
The start of the game was balanced, with Oliveirense making more attacking attempts, but Portimonense was more effective, scoring in the 24th minute, through Ruan.
The Brazilian winger fired a cross-shot after a header from Tamble, but the move was only validated – it was in play with a margin of 30 centimeters – after an analysis of almost 10 minutes by the video referee.
The game continued without much quality and without clear goal opportunities, a scenario that did not change much after the restart, with Ricardo Pessoa's team controlling the situation in the face of weak harassment from the hosts.
The Portimão team reinforced their effectiveness in finishing with the 2-0, in the 69th minute, through Chico Banza, who, alone in front of the opposing goalkeeper, “kicked” the ball perfectly, after a pass from Geovane, scoring his sixth goal in the II Liga.
Portimonense provisionally moved up to 15th place, with 10 points, but still has one game in hand, corresponding to matchday 8, which will be played on November 23, at 11:00 am, when they host Benfica B.
