Portimonense conceded a home draw (1-1) today against Vizela, in their fifth consecutive game without winning in the II Football League, in which they took the lead early on but allowed the equalizer in injury time in a very eventful first half.

In the 10th round match, Chico Banza scored his fourth goal in the championship, after 5 minutes, and Nigerian winger Prosper Obah, at 45+2, equalized for the visitors, who also missed a penalty in the first half.

The Algarve team, still with a game in hand, rose to 16th place, with seven points, but could be overtaken by the last two placed teams.

Portimonense, who had two new players in the starting eleven (Francisco Varela and Paulo Vítor), started the game practically winning, with a goal from Chico Banza, who chipped the ball past Ruly after an assist from Paulo Vítor, in the 5th minute.

The “alvinegros” were almost always on top throughout the first half, especially after 20 minutes, with Paulo Vítor threatening to make it 2-0 with a free kick, forcing the opposing goalkeeper to make a good save.

Dominican forward Mörschel missed a penalty for the Minho side, hitting the post in the 31st minute, but Portimonense were dominant and Tamble Monteiro wasted two chances, again with Ruly Garcia in the spotlight.

Against the run of play, the visitors managed to equalise in first-half injury time, with a lob from Prosper Obah, who responded with his right foot, first time, to a long pass from Momo Mbaye, in a move validated by the video referee after initially being flagged for offside.

The quality of play dropped considerably after the break, but it was still Portimonense who wasted the two main chances of that period.

In the 68th minute, from a shot from outside the area by Geovane, Ruly Garcia made another excellent save, while Tamble Monteiro, in the 90+1 minute, shot just wide of the post, after a move by Chico Banza on the left.

In the next round, the Portimão team will travel to Oliveirense, currently 18th and last placed, in a match scheduled for November 9th, Saturday, at 14 pm.
