The partridge, the “queen of big game”, will be the star of a fair celebrating hunting traditions, culture and gastronomy in the municipality of Alcoutim, scheduled for the 16th and 17th of November, in Martim Longo.
In its 15th edition, the Feira da Perdiz once again offers a diverse programme, very much focused on hunting, but with no shortage of other attractions, with typical game dishes from the region and musical entertainment in the evening, provided by Mónica Sintra (16th) and the Adiafa Musical Group (17th).
“I hope it will be, as always, a success. This fair celebrates the red partridge, the queen of big game, which contributes to many people visiting the municipality of Alcoutim throughout the year,” he told Sul Informação Paulo Paulino, president of the Alcoutim Chamber, who expects many visitors.
“We are one of the most hunting-rich municipalities in the country, with many hunting areas, and there are dozens and dozens of people who come here every week to practice this activity”, he explained.
For the Alcoutenejo mayor, there is “a responsibility” on the part of the Municipality to promote a festival dedicated to the most emblematic hunting species in the municipality.
“We want to create conditions for people to visit us in large numbers, to try dishes related to hunting, whether partridge, hare, rabbit or wild boar,” he concluded.
The program for this festival organized by Alcoutim City Council includes “activities for the whole family and the opportunity to explore the municipality’s natural and cultural heritage”, according to the local authority.
“Avenida dos Almocreves will be the central point of the fair, where visitors will be able to find exhibitions, falconry demonstrations, equestrian activities, dog walks, dog and pack competitions, as well as several initiatives dedicated to children. This event aims not only to promote the hunting sector, but also to promote local products and the region’s traditions”, adds the Municipality.
There will also be ongoing activities, “such as wood cutting and exhibitions on birds and 200.000 years of hunting.”
All of them are “offers that will certainly justify many people visiting us”.
, musical entertainment will be one of the highlights of the fair. On Saturday night, November 16, the stage will be enlivened by the performance of popular singer Mónica Sintra, promising an unforgettable night. On Sunday, the 17th, the closing performance will be performed by the Adiafa Musical Group, which will bring its traditional and contagious music to Martim Longo.
The Partridge Fair has free entry and is an excellent opportunity for lovers of hunting, traditions and gastronomy to discover the best that Alcoutim has to offer.
