AAUAlg elections will have a second round with Rita Tavares and Rodrigo Raziel

The second round will be played on November 19th

The elections for the General Directorate of the Academic Association of the University of Algarve (AAUAlg) will have a second round, after the electoral act of this Thursday, November 7th, ended without a majority. The second round will be contested by Rita Tavares (List A) and Rodrigo Raziel (List T).

This was one of the most competitive elections ever for AAUAlg, with four lists, led by Rita Tavares, Rodrigo Raziel, Leonardo Quádrio (List C) and Salvador Lourenço (List L).

The election ended with a victory for Rodrigo Raziel, with 881 votes, but List T did not achieve a majority. According to the AAUAlg statutes, when this happens, a second round is held, with the two lists with the most votes.

In this case, the second candidate that received the most votes was Rita Tavares, current president of AAUAlg, who received 575 votes. She was followed by Leonardo Quádrio (449 votes) and Salvador Lourenço (66 votes).

Raziel, who was dux of the University of Algarve, won in practically all organic units, with the exception of the Higher School of Hotel and Tourism Management, Faro, and the Higher Institute of Engineering, where Rita Tavares won.

In total, 2142 students from the University of Algarve voted.

The second round will be held on November 19th. The inauguration will then take place on December 6th.

In addition to the general management, the other two social bodies of AAUAlg (Fiscal Council and Board of the General Assembly) also went to vote, in this case with single lists.

List F, led by Mosiah Espírito Santo, was elected to the fiscal council, and Francisco Neves was elected to the Board of the Grand Assembly.
