Algarve and Baixo Alentejo under yellow warning Thursday and Friday due to rain

The warning will be in effect between 6:00 am and 12:00 pm on Thursday and between 6:00 am and 15:00 pm on Friday.

The Algarve and Baixo Alentejo will be under a yellow warning on Thursday and Friday, due to the forecast of showers, occasionally heavy and which could be accompanied by thunderstorms and hail, the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) reported today.

The warning will be in effect between 6:00 am and 12:00 pm on Thursday and between 6:00 am and 15:00 pm on Friday.

In addition to the districts of Faro and Beja, the IPMA issued a yellow rain warning also for the districts of Lisbon and Setúbal, between 12:00 and 18:00 on Thursday.

The IPMA also issued a yellow warning for the districts of Castelo Branco and Guarda due to the forecast of snowfall above 1.400/1.600 meters between 15:00 pm and 21:00 pm today.

The forecast for today on the continent points to very cloudy skies, showers, more likely in the northern and central interior and which will be snow above 1.400/1.600 meters, strong winds in the highlands and a drop in temperatures.

Minimum temperatures will range between 03 degrees Celsius (in Guarda and Bragança) and 14 (in Faro) and maximums between 12 (in Guarda) and 22 (in Faro and Setubal).

The IPMA has also placed the Central group of the Azores (Faial, Pico, Terceira, Graciosa and S. Jorge) under yellow warning due to the sometimes heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms until 15 pm today.

The yellow warning, the least serious on a scale of three, is issued whenever there is a risk situation for certain activities depending on the weather situation.

In the western group of the Azores (Flores and Corvo), periods of very cloudy skies are expected with good clearings, increasing cloudiness towards the end of the day, and weak to calm southwesterly winds, gradually turning to the northeast.

In the central group, generally very cloudy skies are expected, periods of rain and sometimes heavy showers, conditions favorable to the occurrence of thunderstorms and weak to calm southerly winds, turning to the east.

For the eastern group (S. Miguel and Santa Maria), the forecast points to periods of very cloudy skies with clearings and calm to moderate southeasterly winds, turning to the northeast.

In Santa Cruz das Flores and Angra do Heroísmo, temperatures will vary between 16 and 21 degrees and in Horta and Ponta Delgada between 17 and 21 degrees.
