Vila Real de Santo António is preparing to welcome “thousands of visitors” to yet another edition of the Feira da Praia, which will bring “life and excitement to the city and the Historic Center” between the 9th and 15th of October.
This year, “the fairgrounds will once again be spread along Avenida da República, the riverside area (wall) and Praça Marquês de Pombal, welcoming thousands of visitors, mainly Spanish, who, on 12 October, a public holiday in Spain, head to the Algarve city”, according to the VRSA Council.
«From the entertainment to the utilities, utensils and clothes on display on Avenida da República and the riverside area, to the many food products and stalls on Praça Marquês de Pombal, there will be no shortage of reasons to visit Vila Real de Santo António», adds the local authority.
Feira da Praia, the name by which it has always been known, originated in the original location where it was held, in front of the sands of Monte GordoIn 1765.
Later, in 1774, the year Vila Real de Santo António was founded, it was transferred to the town, taking on the role of social and economic expansion and with the aim of promoting fishing.
On the 9th, 10th, 13th, 14th and 15th of October the fair will be open from 10:00 am to 01:00 am. On the 11th and 12th of October, the fair will close at 2:00 am.
