The Tavira Municipal Museum will promote another guided tour of the exhibition “Balsa, Cidade Romana”, led by archaeologist Celso Candeias, on October 26th, at 10:30 am.
On display at the Palácio da Galeria, the exhibition “Balsa, Cidade Romana” (Balsa, Roman City) “provides a journey through 2000 years, to the time when the city that was once the capital of a Roman municipium flourished on the banks of the Ria Formosa. Across 10 rooms, and through an exhibition based on around 100 pieces from various national museums, we will learn about various aspects linked to the origin and evolution of that city, as well as its main economic activities, eating habits and the daily lives of its inhabitants”, according to Tavira Council.
The exhibition also provides “the opportunity to learn the names of some Balsas citizens and their respective professional positions, their concerns with health, beauty and religion or the funeral rituals practiced by some of them at the time of the death of their loved ones, whose names, engraved in stone, have been immortalized to this day”.
Those interested in participating (maximum of 15 people) must register by October 25th, through this link.
