Portimão team wins bronze at Adapted Sailing World Championships

The competition took place in the waters of Rutland Water, in the United Kingdom.

Guilherme Ribeiro and Pedro Reis, from the Vela Solidária team – Iate Clube Marina de Portimão, won the bronze medal in the RS Venture Connect World Championship, which took place between 30 September and 3 October in the waters of Rutland Water, in the United Kingdom.

The Algarve athletes competed with 28 other teams representing 17 countries.

Despite the positive result, the team highlights that “the fact of not having an RS Venture Connect boat to train with makes their performance in international competitions quite difficult and their objectives difficult to achieve”.

Now, the ambition is to win gold at the 2025 World Championships, but to do so “it is necessary to meet the conditions, especially to acquire one of these boats and train in a manner befitting the ambition and potential that this team has”.
