Public participation meetings of the Participatory Budget Faro will start

Winning projects will be announced in April

The new edition of the Participatory Budget of Faro, which is already the fifth, will start the Participatory Meetings on October 12th, in the parish of Montenegro.

Until the end of November, 12 meetings will be held in various locations in the municipality, during which the citizens of Faro will be able to share and present their ideas to improve the municipality.

After the face-to-face meetings, digital participation will take place in December, through the OP portal. Faro, in which each participant can present their proposal.

For this 5th edition of the OP Faro, the allocated amount remains at 250 thousand euros in total – 240 thousand for the OP Faro
and 10 thousand for the OP Faro-Schools (under development by school groups with 3rd cycle and secondary students).

So in the OP Faro the overall cost of each proposal submitted may be equal to or less than 40 thousand euros (VAT included).

All citizens aged 18 or over, registered in Faro or who are proven to reside, work or study in the municipality.

The projects that receive the most votes from citizens until the funds are exhausted will be the winners, and each parish/union of parishes will always have at least one winning project.

After the proposal submission and technical analysis period, voting will take place throughout the month of March 2025 and each participant will be able to vote for two different projects.

In April, the winning projects will be announced, which will be implemented for a maximum period of two years.

It should be noted that, since the first edition, a total amount of 821.324,87 euros has been allocated and 8 of the 25 winning projects in the OP have been completed. Faro.

The OP Faro Schools had the support of all school groups and projects were approved in the nine schools in the municipality (3rd cycle and secondary).

The local authority intends to keep this process alive and participatory, in which the municipality of Faro and the best way to contribute to its development and to improving the quality of life of its inhabitants.
