An exhibition of unpublished works, round tables and even performative poetry. This is how the Municipal Library of Faro will celebrate, on the 16th and 17th of October, the 100th anniversary of the birth of the poet from Faro, António Ramos Rosa.
The program includes an exhibition of previously unpublished and original works by the artist that will remain after the event at the Municipal Library and which is scheduled to open on October 16th, at 17:30 pm.
On the 17th, the day of his birth, there will be a round table of poets, three working tables on Ramos Rosa and a performance of performative poetry.
The celebrations will feature a range of personalities and thinkers from the Portuguese literary scene, namely Paula Cristina Costa, João Albuquerque, Jorge Vaz de Carvalho, Fernando Pinto do Amaral, Paulo Teixeira, Jorge Reis-Sá, Ana Marques Gastão, Luís Filipe Castro Mendes, José Ricardo Nunes, Luís Quintais, Luís Ricardo Duarte, Elisa Costa Pinto, Sara Martins and Cláudia Tomé Silva. The performance of interpretative poetry will be carried out by the actors Luís Lucas and Eurico Lopes.
The centenary celebration event is curated by professor, poet and essayist, António Carlos Cortez, and organized by the A Tal Emersa Association, with the support of the Municipality of Faro.
Born in Faro in 1924, António Ramos Rosa was one of the most important Portuguese poets of the XNUMXth century.
He was an outspoken critic of the Estado Novo dictatorship and became involved in political activities, with the founding of the literary magazine “Cadernos do Meio-Dia”. In 1958, he published his first book, “O Grito Claro”, however this was only the beginning of a life of more than 50 relevant works in the Portuguese literary scene.
António Ramos Rosa died in 2013.
