The São Brás de Alportel Council celebrated this Thursday, September 12, the issuance of the subdivision title that will allow the completion of the Herdade do Monte da Ribeira – Pêro de Amigos tourist development with a daily capacity for 909 people.
This is the largest subdivision title ever issued in the municipality and will involve an estimated investment of 50 million euros.
“A structuring project for the economic and tourist development of São Brás de Alportel, particularly the mountainous area, and whose design strives for environmental concerns both in terms of construction techniques and materials, water and energy efficiency measures and waste management, revitalization and recovery of habitats and promotion of natural heritage”, says the local authority.
The project's Urbanization Plan was drawn up in 2008, having obtained the declaration of Municipal Public Interest in 2020, and environmental impact study processes and other analyses demonstrated a positive impact.
Taking into account the entire process, the proposal and the technical evaluation carried out, the Mayor of São Brás de Alportel, Vitor Guerreiro, explains that the Municipality's approval and support for this investment «are unequivocal as it is in line with the efforts that the Municipality has been making to attract new investments to the municipality, which dignify and enhance the landscape».
The first Tourist Development Center of São Brás de Alportel will be implemented on a 200-hectare estate, located at the foot of the Serra do Caldeirão and on the slopes of the Ribeira do Alportel, just four kilometers from the town of São Brás de Alportel.
The project will occupy 50 hectares of the property and will have a new construction area of 31.500 square meters that will allow for a daily capacity of 909 people, placing it among the 10 largest of its kind in the Algarve region.
«With an initial focus on creating infrastructure and improving local access, this is an investment by the company “Pero de Amigos SA” and is a commitment to quality tourism, valuing nature, endogenous resources and defending local identity, differentiating elements that aim to provide authentic experiences», says the local authority.
The complex will include the construction of a hotel, an aparthotel, houses, green and agricultural areas and common areas.
