Algarve Orchestra joins Balanas sisters for concerts in Ayamonte and Portimão

The highlight of this program will be the interpretation of Beethoven's famous Violin Concerto

The Orquestra do Algarve will give two concerts, this Saturday and Sunday, 14th and 15th September, with the participation of sisters Kristine and Margarita Balanas, in Ayamonte and Portimão.

The shows will take place at the Ayamonte Exhibition and Congress Centre on 14 September at 20:30 pm (local time) and at TEMPO – Portimão Municipal Theatre on 15 September at 19:00 pm.

Latvian natives Kristine and Margarita Balanas have been gracing stages around the world, standing out as talented musicians. Kristine, on the violin, and Margarita, on the cello, grew up in a musical environment. Margarita has recently taken on a prominent role on the international music scene, collaborating as a conductor on several projects alongside the renowned Paavo Järvi, among others, a position she will occupy in this concert with the Orquestra do Algarve.

The highlight of this programme will be the performance of Beethoven’s famous Violin Concerto, a masterpiece of the classical repertoire. The combination of Margarita Balanas conducting and Kristine Balanas playing the violin “promises to provide the audience with an unforgettable experience, marked by the deep artistic bond between the sisters”, says the Orquestra do Algarve.

These concerts, in addition to celebrating musical excellence, take place during the week of the European Cooperation Day celebrations, which is celebrated on 21 September.

Tickets to Ayamonte are available here and, for Portimão, they can be purchased here
