Louletano and Moncarapachense beat Esp. Lagos and Grandolense, respectively, this Sunday, both by 3-0, and set up a meeting for the 2nd round of the Portuguese Football Cup, in two weeks' time.
In the Algarve clash played at the Estádio Municipal de Albufeira, the home ground of the Loulé team in the opening round, the leader of Series D of the Campeonato de Portugal eliminated (3-0) Esp. Lagos, from the Algarve District I Division.
The hosts paved the way for victory with a Chima penalty in the 24th minute, two minutes after Leandro Ferreira had missed the first penalty of the match in Louletano's favour.
Gonçalo Pinto increased the lead towards the end of the first half (44 minutes), with substitute Eduardo Souza closing the score in the final stretch of the match, at 85.
In Moncarapacho, the home team, from the Portuguese Championship, also comfortably beat Grandolense, from the Setúbal District I Division, by the same result (3-0).
Diogo Motty opened and closed the scoring, scoring twice in the 5th and 51st minutes, with Isaías Cruz scoring Moncarapachense's second goal in the 41st minute, in a game largely dominated by the hosts, who wasted more chances.
In the 2nd round, scheduled for September 22, Moncarapachense hosts Louletano, in the second Algarve duel of the 2024/25 edition of the competition.
As for the other Algarve clubs involved in the next round, Portimonense (II Liga) stands out, as they travel to Vianense (CP), who beat Vinhais 2-1 at home this Sunday.
Lagoa (CP), exempt from the 1st round, will host União 1919 (CP), who defeated Beira-Mar on Sunday, 4-2 in the penalty shootout, after a draw (2-2) in 120 minutes.
Ferreiras (I Distrital Distrital do Algarve) will have the most complicated mission, playing at Varzim (Liga 3), on Sunday, September 22, at 11:00 am, in a match between two teams exempted in the 1st round.
First division team Farense will only enter action in the 3rd round of the Portuguese Cup, scheduled for October 20th.
