Ussumani Djumo, a young Algarve native from Armação de Pêra, current national champion in outdoor athletics clubs in the second men's division, has just been hired by the Vianense Olympic Athletics Club, in Viana do Castelo.
Ussumani Djumo is also one of the best Portuguese hurdlers in activity, with a time of 14.39 seconds in the 110 meter hurdles.
Fernando Alves, the club's president, stated that "Olímpico Vianense aims to go even further next season. The signing of athlete Ussumani Djumo will allow us to strengthen our team, but at the same time it will guarantee the athlete conditions that will allow him to continue to bring prestige to the region and the country with his high level of performance towards his goal of going to the Los Angeles Olympic Games in 2028".
“Our club has a long history of titles and trophies achieved by a large family of athletes and we want Ussumani to be part of it, bringing even more victories and good results to Olímpico Vianense”, he added.
“I am very happy that they have invested in me for this new sporting project”, said Ussumani Djumo.
“By moving now to Vianense, I hope to make my contribution to the team and, together with my teammates, continue to raise the name of this incredible club”, said the athlete after signing the agreement with Olímpico Vianense.
The athlete from Armação de Pêra, Silves, already has an enviable record: in addition to being national club champion in his division last season, he also came 4th in the Portuguese Championship in the 110m Hurdles this year, as well as 7th in the Portuguese Championships in the 110m Hurdles in 2023.
Furthermore, between 2020 and 2023, while representing the Associação Académica da Bela Vista (AABV) club, in the Algarve, where he began his athletics career, he won 15 regional champion titles.
