José Mota, Farense coach, acknowledged this Friday the «negative wave» of his team, the only one without points in the I Liga and which on Sunday plays at FC Porto's home, but stressed that this is not the time to be alarmed.
«We know that we are in a negative wave, but we also understand and have to be aware that we have to evolve, we have to improve, we have to win games and we will do everything to make that happen», said the coach, in a press conference.
Farense is in 18th place, without any points, after suffering four defeats in four matches, a negative phase “that all teams go through” throughout the season, reinforced José Mota.
“All teams during the championship have negative waves, they have less good phases. We are going through our [negative] phase; we want to overcome it quickly. We are aware and we have the capacity to overcome it”, he highlighted.
In other words, this is not “the time to be alarmed”, stressed Mota, recalling the Algarve team’s performance in the first rounds of the last championship.
«For comparison purposes, last season, on the fourth matchday we had three points and on the eighth matchday we had seven», he highlighted, although adding that Farense has to «start scoring points, start winning games», to gain more peace of mind and confidence.
José Mota also assured that he was never “attached to any position”, adding: “If you think that things happen with four negative results, I don’t think that way. I think about working every day, about having the dignity that I have always had, about always having the trust of the work group and the management.”
As for Sunday's game, the Algarve team's coach anticipated a game with "great intensity" against a team that has "FC Porto's DNA" and is "very strong, not only in recovering the ball, but also in its ability to press".
Farense will have to be intelligent, calm, confident and focused, to be able to take advantage of the phases of the game in their favor and «unnerve the opponent», he concluded.
The game between FC Porto and Farense is scheduled for Sunday, at 15:30 pm, at Estádio do Dragão, with Nuno Almeida (AF Algarve) as the referee.
