Elderly man dies after feeling unwell on Manta Rota beach

Resuscitation maneuvers were still performed, but without success.

A 72-year-old man died yesterday, September 16, after suffering a cardiorespiratory arrest on the sands of Manta Rota beach, in Vila Real de Santo António.

The alert was given at 11:15 am, by the lifeguard on duty at the beach.

As soon as they arrived at the beach, members of the “SeaWatch” Project, in collaboration with the lifeguard, promptly assisted the victim and even performed resuscitation maneuvers, without being able to reverse the situation.

The members of the “SeaWatch” Project, using the Amarok vehicle, transported the 72-year-old man to the ambulance that was in the Manta Rota Car Park, where his death was declared by the INEM doctor.

The victim was then transported to the Forensic Medical Office of Faro.

Elements of the local command of the Maritime Police of Vila Real de Santo António and the “SeaWatch” Project were present at the scene, as well as the Fire Department of Vila Real de Santo António and Castro Marim and INEM.
