Galp Foundation supports university students from Alcoutim, Sines, Santiago do Cacém and Ourique

Grants for undergraduate students are worth 900 euros/year for three years

The Galp Foundation will award merit scholarships for undergraduate studies to students from Alcoutim, Sines, Santiago do Cacém and Ourique, «as part of its strategy to promote equal opportunities in access to education and combat school dropout».

Applications are open until September 22. Students who have successfully completed secondary education or a degree in 2023/2024 and are residents of these municipalities can apply.

Undergraduate scholarships are worth 900 euros/year per student, for three years.

The Galp Foundation offers 46 merit scholarships throughout the country for students residing in territories considered “strategic for the development of Galp's energy ecosystem”: Matosinhos, Sines, Santiago do Cacém, Setúbal, Alcoutim, Ourique and Alcântara – Lisbon municipality.

Students with disabilities from any part of the country may also apply for undergraduate scholarships.

“The scholarship program reinforces Galp’s social commitment to the communities where it operates,” highlights the foundation.

Alcoutim is home to Galp's largest solar park in Portugal, generating clean energy that supplies families and businesses, and which is integrated into the production of a new generation of low-carbon energy solutions.

Sines and Santiago do Cacém have a historical relationship with Galp, being part of the refinery’s area of ​​influence. This complex is undergoing a transformation process that aims to accelerate the decarbonization of the company’s operations, guarantee the country’s energy security and the production of low-carbon energy solutions of the future, such as green hydrogen and sustainable aviation fuels.

The Galp Foundation is part of the EPIS – Entrepreneurs for Social Inclusion project, and has consolidated its position as the main investor in the program, being responsible, this year, for 23% of the total funding allocated by 48 social partners. Between 2019 and 2023, the Galp Foundation supported 233 students.
