Faro remains among the nine districts with municipalities at maximum risk of fire

Calculations are obtained from air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed and amount of precipitation in the last 24 hours.

Around 60 municipalities in the districts of Bragança, Viseu, Coimbra, Guarda, Castelo Branco, Santarém, Leiria, Portalegre and Faro are currently at maximum risk of rural fires, according to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA).

With the exception of Évora, Beja, Lisbon, Setúbal and some municipalities in Aveiro and Porto, all other districts in mainland Portugal present a very high and high fire risk, according to the IPMA.

This risk, determined by the IPMA, has five levels, ranging from low to high. The calculations are obtained from air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed and amount of precipitation in the last 24 hours.

The weather forecast for the continent is for partly cloudy or clear skies, with possible temporary periods of greater cloudiness due to high clouds, especially in the interior of the South region during the afternoon.

The wind will blow weak to moderate from the east quadrant, sometimes blowing strongly on the North and Central coast and, with gusts of up to 60 km/h, in the highlands until mid-morning, turning to the north quadrant on the west coast from the afternoon onwards.

The IPMA predicts a small rise in maximum temperatures in the North and Center interior and on the Center and South coast, except in the Algarve leeward region, where it will fall.

Minimum temperatures will range between 34º Celsius in Évora and 24º in Guarda.
