Two of the suspects who violently stole luxury watches in Quinta do Lago and Vilamoura will await trial in preventive detention, announced the GNR.
These are two of the four men, aged between 24 and 34, who were arrested on September 13 by this security force, following an investigation into violent crimes committed in these luxury tourism areas of the municipality of Loulé, which lasted three months.
The other two men, as the GNR had already announced, were subject to identity and residence terms.
At least two of the crimes of which the four men are accused are believed to have occurred at the end of August, when a 72-year-old Irish tourist was robbed by two armed men, near Quinta Shopping, in Quinta do Lago.
Two days earlier, an English tourist, aged around 40, was also robbed and assaulted near Vilamoura Marina.
According to Correio da Manhã, which cited a police source, in Quinta do Lago the robbers acted with helmets on their heads and managed to steal the victim's luxury Rolex watch, which is valued at more than 50 thousand euros. The pair fled on a motorbike.
The CM added that, two days earlier, an English tourist was hit in the head with the butt of a gun during an attempted robbery of a watch in Vilamoura.
The victim resisted the robbers and managed to prevent them from stealing a Patek Philippe watch, which costs more than 100 thousand euros.
When they were arrested, in a tourist area with luxury goods stores, they were preparing to commit another robbery.
