«The National Road 2, around which the great intermunicipal project Rota da EN2 was born, is the element that serves as the guiding thread of the entire narrative, travelling through the past, present and future of this highway full of history and memories with people inside, which takes the viewer through mountains and plains, rivers and bodies of water, lost villages and cities rich in heritage, on a journey that crosses the country along one of the oldest roads in Portugal in search of people and ancestral knowledge», according to the Council of São Brás de Alportel, one of the three Algarve municipalities that are crossed by this road, similar to Faro and Loulé.
«The EN 2 Memorial House, in São Brás de Alportel, was one of the places visited during this documentary. Located next to Largo de São Sebastião, right at the intersection between the largest road in the country and the largest road in the region – National Road 2 and Regional Road 270, the former Road Workers’ House – 8th Road Conservation Section of the district of Faro, the Section House, after renovation work carried out by the Municipality of São Brás de Alportel, is now a museum space that annually receives thousands of visitors who travel through the History of this Road and its memories, paying a fair tribute to the road workers, Men of the Road", added the local authority.
The documentary “N2: The Road That Unites Us” resulted from a project by the Association of Municipalities of the National Road 2 Route, supported by Turismo de Portugal, as part of the promotion of the territories crossed by the mythical N2 road, and is available on RTP Play.
