Algarvian Celina Carpinteiro 3rd in the Águeda stage of the Portuguese Mountain Bike Marathon Cup

Fourth and final round of the Cup will take place in Lagos in October

Algarve cyclist Celina Carpinteiro (CDASJ/Cyclin'Team/Albufeira Municipality) was, this Sunday, 3rd classified in the women's race of the third qualifying race for the Portuguese Mountain Bike Marathon Cup (XCM), held in Aguada de Cima, Águeda.

Over a distance of 70,9 kilometres, Melissa Maia (Guilhabreu MTB Team) applied the law of the strongest with a profound difference to the competition: the 2nd placed rider, Estonian Maaris Meier (SAGIPER/NSCP Mortágua), spent 24m12s more, and Celina Carpinteiro closed the podium, 24m33s behind.

In the men's race, the best from the Algarve was Filipe Francisco (CDASJ/Cyclin'Team/Município de Albufeira), 6th, 17m36s behind the winner, Guilherme Mota (Guilhabreu MTB Team).

The Albufeira team was 4th in the overall overall standings, with 24 points, 20 behind the winner, Guilhabreu MTB Team.

In the veterans categories, the winners were Vítor Graça, in master 55, and Orlando Sebastião, in master 65, both from BTT Conceição de Faro, who triumphed in teams.

The fourth and final round of the Portuguese XCM Cup will take place in Lagos, on October 6th.
