The Algarve Association of Parents and Friends of Mentally Disabled Citizens (AAPACDM) will inaugurate this Saturday, September 7th, Algarve City Day. Faro, its new headquarters and residential home.
According to the Algarve Association, the institution's new headquarters, which is located on Rua Natália Correia, in the Nossa Senhora da Saúde Urbanization, in Lejana, «represents an important milestone in strengthening social responses in the district of Faro» and involved an investment of more than 5 million euros.
The building, in addition to being a residential home, will house three Activity and Training Centers for Inclusion (CACI), and is also expected to create around 20 new jobs.
Jorge Leitão, president of AAPACDM, states that «this project is the result of a joint effort, only possible thanks to the support of PO CRESC Algarve, the Municipality of Faro and the institution itself. This is a concrete example of how unity and dedication make a difference.”
The inauguration ceremony, scheduled for 17:00 pm, will be attended by the Secretary of State for Inclusion, the Mayor of Faro, the District Director of the Social Security Institute and the president of the Algarve Regional Coordination and Development Commission (CCDR).
Jorge Leitão also highlights the association's mission: "This project reflects our commitment to demonstrating that difference should not be seen as an obstacle. For us, the autonomy and dreams of our users are always at the center of our actions."
