1148 traffic violations detected in the last week in the Algarve

There are still 107 accidents to be recorded

1148 was the number of traffic violations detected by the GNR between the 9th and 15th of September, this security force announced today. 

Of these, 109 were due to speeding, 59 due to lack of mandatory periodic inspection, 39 due to lack of or incorrect use of seat belts and/or child restraint systems, 23 due to lack of civil liability insurance, 20 due to improper use of a mobile phone while driving and nine related to anomalies in the lighting and signalling systems.

Last week, actions to prevent and combat violent crime, road inspections, among others, also resulted in the arrest of 69 people – 17 for driving under the influence of alcohol, 14 for driving without a legal license and 12 for drug trafficking – and the seizure of 545 doses of cocaine, 299 of heroin, 254 of hashish and four cell phones.

There is still to register 107 accidents, resulting in one death and 22 minor injuries.
