This Sunday, sailor Eduardo Marques dropped to 11th place in the general classification of the ILCA 7 class of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, after a disqualification and a 3rd place in the day's two races.

On the fourth day of the race, which takes place in the Marseille marina, the athlete from the Algarve club Capable Planet got off to a bad start, with an irregular start in the seventh race, penalized with disqualification and 44 points, discarded as the worst result.

In the second regatta this Sunday, Eduardo Marques was once again among the best and finished in 3rd place, minimizing his previous bad result.

In the official ILCA 7 classification, after eight races, the Portuguese sailor remains in 11th place, with 101 net points. Australian Matt Wearn leads, with 38.

Two points separate Eduardo Marques from the medal race for the top ten and whose qualification will be decided on Monday with the last two races.

The 30-year-old athlete represents Capable Planet Clube Náutico, based in Vilamoura, in the municipality of Loulé, and aims for a place in the “top-12”.
