Diagnostic and therapeutic technicians from the Algarve go on strike on Thursday

There will be a gathering in front of the hospital Faro

The Senior Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technicians (TSDT) of the Algarve Local Health Unit will be on strike on Thursday, August 8th, and will promote a sit-in in front of the Hospital de Faro, between 10am and 00pm that day.

This is yet another strike that these professionals are carrying out across the country, in different institutions.

On Thursday, it will be the turn of Algarve professionals «to protest and denounce the incorrect application of Law 34/2021, of June 8, which introduced changes to the rules of transition and remuneration repositioning in the TSDT career».

Also the non-application of the Collective Labor Agreement applicable to workers under private law, «the incorrect application, to date, of the joint ACSS and DGTF circular of November 2nd to TSDT under the CIT regime, the incorrect attribution of points to date, in the amount of 1,5 points per year, which results from the performance evaluation of the TSDT, the deficient application, to the detriment of workers, of the remaining standards of DL 564\99, of 21.12 and the erroneous interpretation and application of the terms under which the right to salary progression expires, as a result of the performance evaluation", are reasons for the strike.

«We will continue the fight for the institution because we continue to wait for the Government to announce concrete responses to our demands. If this does not happen by September, the struggle will escalate into a struggle with strikes and national demonstrations», warns Luís Dupont, president of the National Union of Superior Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technicians (STSS), Luis Dupont.

With this stoppage, “several complementary diagnostic exams may not be carried out, such as clinical analyses, ultrasounds, X-rays, among others, as well as activities in the areas of therapy, namely, hospital pharmacies, physiotherapy, speech therapy or occupational therapy. Failure to carry out these tests will have an impact not only on the diagnosis, but also on scheduled surgeries, for example. Minimum services will only ensure emergencies», warns the union.
