A 31-year-old young man who yesterday climbed to the top of Leixão da Gaivota, in front of Praia dos Caneiros, on the coast of Lagoa, but was later unable to descend, had to be rescued by helicopter this Sunday, May 5th.
According to the National Maritime Authority, although the Ferragudo lifeguard and the Lagoa firefighters arrived at the scene, due to the fact that the isolated rock in the sea was 30 meters high, it was necessary to call an Air Force helicopter. Portuguese, an EH-101 Merlin, which, at around 21 pm, rescued the man and disembarked him at Portimão Aerodrome.
The operation was coordinated by the Port Captain of Portimão.
