Spanish goalkeeper Lucas Cañizares left Real Madrid and signed for Farense until 2027, the Algarve club reported today, which on Sunday makes its debut in the I Football League.
«His agility, reflexes, positioning and speed in moving towards goal are his greatest qualities. We are sure that Cañizares will be a huge addition to the squad and that in the future he will bring much joy to the people of Farense», revealed Farense.
The 22-year-old goalkeeper, son of former goalkeeper Santiago Cañizares, has never played for Real Madrid's first team, although he has been called up to the bench by coach Carlo Ancelotti on several occasions.
In the Madrilenians' subsidiary, equivalent to the B teams in Portugal, he played 29 games in the third tier of Spanish football, in the 2023/24 season.
Cited by the emblem of Faro, the footballer, international for Spain's youth teams, said he was "grateful to Farense for the reception and the effort" the club made to sign him and confessed he was excited about "the great challenge" that lies ahead.
In the opening round of the I League, Farense hosts Moreirense, in a game scheduled for this Sunday, the 11th, at 18:00 pm.
