Portuguese athlete Isaac Nader will try today to ensure his presence in the 1.500 meter final of the Paris2024 Olympic Games, when he competes in the distance semi-finals.
On a day when athletics puts four athletes into action, Nader, who qualified on Friday directly for the semi-finals, by finishing sixth in his heat, will try today, starting at 21:15 pm local time (20:15 pm in Lisbon), to be present in the decisive race, scheduled for Monday.
To do so, he will have to be one of the top six in his semi-final series, which he shares with two of the medal winners in Tokyo2020, the Norwegian Jakob Ingebrigtsen, who won gold, and the British Josh Kerr, bronze in the last Games and current world champion.
Earlier in the morning, it will be Lorène Bazolo's turn to complete the first round of the 200 meters, after having already been eliminated in the inaugural round of the 100 meters, on Friday.
Still in the morning session at the Stade de France, Diallo Fatomata competes in the first round of the 400 hurdles, before national record holder and Olympic debutant João Coelho takes on the 400 meters.
In Marseille, sailing also has an intense program, with Edward Marques, who, on Saturday, won the sixth regatta of the ILCA 7 class, rising to ninth place, from the pair Carolina João and Diogo Costa in 470 and with the debut of Mafalda Pires de Lima in women's kiteboarding.
Road cycling says goodbye to the Games today, with the women's long distance race, in which Portugal will be represented by Daniela Campos.
