There were 723 fewer students applying for higher education in the first phase

Number of candidates drops to 58 thousand

The deadline to compete in the first phase of the national competition for access to higher education ended on Monday with 58.641 candidates, 723 fewer than last year.

According to data updated today on the website of the Directorate-General for Higher Education, 58.641 students submitted their candidacy.

Compared to last year, there are 723 fewer candidates, but the number continues to exceed those of years before the Covid-19 pandemic.

For the first phase of the national access competition, public higher education institutions made 54.601 places available, 290 more than the initial number for the previous academic year.

The results will be announced on August 25th and enrollment and registration of students placed in the first phase will take place between August 26th and 29th.

The second and third phases of the national competition take place between August 26th and September 30th.
