Man wanted in Morocco for drug trafficking arrested in Faro

The man is suspected of belonging to a network that operated between Germany, France and Spain.

A 48-year-old man with an international arrest warrant issued by Moroccan judicial authorities for drug trafficking was arrested in Faro.

According to the PJ, the man is suspected of belonging to an international trafficking network that operated between Germany, France and Spain, with Morocco as the destination country.

The events took place in 2023, the year in which the network operated under the guise of a company exporting cars arriving from Germany to Morocco.

The vehicles were travelling by land to the Port of Almeria, Spain, where they were then loaded onto their final destination. One of the vehicles contained 100.115 “ESCTASY” tablets.

The detainee, who was held in preventive detention, could be sentenced to 10 years in prison.
