Cyclist Daniela Simão became national junior time trial champion this weekend, in a race held in Castanheira do Ribatejo, which had a podium completely occupied by Algarve runners.
The National Road Championship for young people, at the youth (under-15), cadets (under-17) and juniors (under-19) levels, crowned long-distance and time trial champions in recent days.
In juniors, in the women's time trial, Algarve's Daniela Simão, who represents the Efapel Cycling Academy, prevailed with 12m41s, followed by Rita Tanganho (CDASJ/Cyclin'Team/Municipality of Albufeira), at 6s, and Raquel Dias (Tavira/Extremosul/SC Farense), at 13s.
In cadets, Bruna Carmo (Tavira/Extremosul/SC Farense) closed the podium in the women's time trial, with 14m49s, 23s behind the winner, Maria Coimbra.
In the long-distance race for male cadets, which ended with a sprint, Duarte Costa (Centro de Ciclismo de Loulé/Matdiver/Golf) was placed 5th, with the same time as the winner, Afonso Falcão (Landeiro/KTM/Matias & Araújo ).
In juveniles, Lúcia Martins (BTT Loulé/Elevis) was ranked 4th in the road race, 1m07s behind the winner, Francisca Grazina (Triumtérmica-Águias de Alpiarça).
