Alentejo cyclist Afonso Silva (AP Hotels & Resorts-Tavira-SC Farense) won this Thursday the Mortágua Cycling Grand Prix – Pedro Silva, standing alone at the end of the 144 kilometer race.

The triple ascent of Felgueira was a pivotal point in the hardening of the run, marked by the heat and the traditional demands of the route, which pays homage to the mentor of the Velo Clube do Centro, Pedro Silva.

A large group of escapees discussed the secondary classifications, but also had the capacity to fight for the final victory, with Odemira's runner standing out as the strongest of the escapees.

Afonso Silva attacked while escaping, isolated himself and did the last of the three laps alone, ending up crossing the finish line alone, with 3h30m54s and a 37s advantage over José Luis Faura (Padronés Cortizo) and Frederico Figueiredo (Sabgal-Anicolor), second and third, respectively.

The escape also gave the cyclist from AP Hotels & Resorts-Tavira-SC Farense victory in the mountain and flying goals classifications.
