Loulé City Council is promoting Operational Meetings for the Defense of the Forest Against Fires – RODFCI, until the end of September, during the level of reinforced operational commitment Delta, covering the period from 1st July to 30th September, within the scope of the Special Combat Device Rural Fires (DECIR).
These fortnightly meetings “have an operational nature, with the main objective of maintaining permanent interconnection and sharing of information and monitoring between the various entities and services that, at the municipal level, constitute or collaborate in the device for the Defense of the Forest Against Fires” , according to the Loulé Chamber.
The municipality's idea is, «with each passing year, to improve and increase its performance with regard to the preventive strategy for the defense of people and property in forest areas, so that each season of rural fires this territory is reinforced at the level of surveillance and combat device. On the other hand, the objective is to increase the resilience of the municipality's communities to the scourge of rural fires».
The third of the seven planned meetings was chaired by the councilor responsible for Civil Protection, Carlos Carmo, with several presentations being made on the work carried out at municipal level, under the responsibility of the Municipal Civil Protection Service, the Association of Forestry Producers of Serra do Caldeirão, the National Republican Guard and the Loulé Firefighters.
