This year's lineup for the Olhão Seafood Festival features Calema, Ana Moura, Plutónio, Diogo Piçarra and Maninho to add more flavor to the nights on the banks of the Ria Formosa.
The Seafood Festival will once again take place at Jardim Pescador Olhanense, between the 10th and 14th of August. The shellfish and bivalves of the Ria Formosa are always the biggest attraction, but the regional sweets, handicrafts and shows also help.
The official opening is scheduled for Saturday, the 10th, at 19:30 pm, and Calema will inaugurate the stage at 23:00 pm.
On Sunday, there is a concert with Ana Moura, on the 12th it is Plutónio who promises to fill the venue, followed by Diogo Piçarra and the closing will be ensured by Maninho, on the 14th.
«Promoting one of the largest gastronomic assets in the region, the Ria Formosa and the city of Olhão, and boosting the local economy» have been the main objectives of the Seafood Festival since the first edition, assures the Olhão City Council, which organizes the event.
«Over the years, it has become one of the liveliest moments of the year for the local community, and the event that most attracts families who choose the Algarve for their summer holidays to Olhão. Because nothing matches the spirit of a beach holiday better than clams, oysters, conquilhas and cockles from the Ria Formosa or a dinner of Açorda, rice, cataplana or seafood paella, prepared on site and sold at affordable prices», adds the autarchy.
The Real Marina Hotel & Spa restaurant will also be present again at the Seafood Festival.
The initiative by the Municipality of Olhão, which is organized by the municipal company Fesnima, was visited by more than 2023 thousand people in 30, reinforcing its status as the largest gastronomic event in the south of the country.
The Municipality renovated the event venue a year ago, managing to gain space and improve circulation in the surrounding area and in the parking lot.
