Commit 100 million euros in Algarve 2030 community funds by the end of 2024 and execute 120 million euros, from the total of 780 allocated to the Algarve Regional Program, by the end of 2025. These two objectives were assumed by José Apolinário, president of Algarve Regional Coordination and Development Commission (CCDR), in a session that took place last week, in Faro, and was attended by the Secretary of State for Regional Planning and Development.
In statements to the Sul Informação, the person also responsible for the Algarve 2030 Management Authority also said that, so far, «applications worth 36 million euros have already been approved».
On the same occasion, José Apolinário expressed confidence that these goals will be met, especially because the rules of the current Community Support Framework stipulate this.
To this end, the municipalities of the Algarve should contribute a lot and the 155 million euros that were protocoled between the management authority and AMAL – Algarve Intermunicipal Community, allocated to works in the most diverse areas, but very focused on interventions linked to the water cycle and waste management.
At the moment, seven competitions are open for municipalities in the Algarve, with a total value of 52 million euros, associated with the action plan.
Hélder Reis, Secretary of State for Regional Planning and Development, praised AMAL's action plan and the management authority's commitment to meeting the intermediate goals of the Regional Program, but left a message: «The important thing is to apply the money well and maximize the return on the euros we invested».
In all, Algarve 2030 has an allocation of 780 million euros and includes works such as the Algarve Oncological Center and subwaybus, the latter an example of the commitment that will be made to sustainability.
