Albufeira once again pays tribute to Our Lady of Orada

Festival of the patron saint of fishermen takes place between the 3rd and 15th of August

The Festival in honor of Nossa Senhora da Orada, patron saint of fishermen, expects, from the 3rd to the 15th of August, to bring together hundreds of people again in Albufeira. 

The Festival is held in partnership by the Municipality and the Parish of Albufeira and starts tomorrow, at 21pm, with the departure of the Procession of Nossa Senhora da Ermida da Orada towards the Main Church, where the festival takes place from the 00th to the 4th of August. Prayer of the Rosary (11pm).

On August 12th, the Votive Eucharist of Our Lady takes place (Mother Church – 19:00 pm) and the Candle Procession (from the Mother Church to the Hermitage – 21:00 p.m.). The following day, the 13th, the Marian Celebration takes place (Ermida da Orada – 21:30 pm).

The highlight of the program is reserved for the 14th of August with the celebrations starting at 16:15 pm, at the Chapel of Nossa Senhora da Orada, with the prayer of the Rosary. At 17pm the Evening Eucharist of the Solemnity of the Assumption of Our Lady is celebrated, followed by a Procession by sea and return to the Hermitage.

According to information provided by the parish priest of Albufeira, Father Flávio Martins, «this year we will complete the Festival, on the 14th and 15th of August, with the departure of the Image of Nossa Senhora da Ermida to the Main Church of Albufeira, in the center of the city, to the House of houses».

At night, at 22pm, César Matoso, singer and composer, who is part of the new generation of fado singers, performs in the churchyard
Hermitage.

The usual fireworks are planned for midnight.

The celebrations in honor of Our Lady of Prayer end on August 15th, the Solemnity of the Assumption of
Our Lady, with the Eucharist to be celebrated at the following times and locations: 9:30 am – Casa Paroquial Beato Vicente; 11am – Main Church and 00pm at Ermida da Orada.
