Applications for the award of Scholarships to Albufeira students attending higher education in the 2024/2025 academic year will take place from the 9th to the 27th of September, the Municipality announced today.
This is, according to the president of the municipality, a social measure «which aims to promote equal opportunities in access to higher education and favor the continuation of studies by students in the municipality with fewer economic resources and with good academic performance».
This year, the Municipality will support higher education students with more than 234 thousand euros.
In total, six scholarships will be awarded for the Higher Professional Technical Course (TeSP), worth 200 euros per month, for ten months; 40 Initial Degree, worth 200 euros per month, for ten months; 15 Master's Degree, worth 150 euros per month for ten months and 60 scholarships intended for renewals (Bachelor's Degree), worth 200 euros per month, for ten months.
Applications for TeSP, Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree, take place during 15 working days, between 9 and 27
September, at the Municipal facilities located at Quinta da Palmeira, nº 57, ground floor, from 9:00 am to 16:00 pm.
The delivery of the application (A3 format bulletin and Application) and all documentation must be scheduled, from August 5th to September 26th (within the application deadline and during the services' opening hours), through the numbers: 289 599 509 or 289 598 867, in order to minimize waiting time, as well as the concentration of candidates in the facilities.
As for applications for Renewal – Degree Degree, they take place during the same period, and interested parties must submit the Application Form (editable PDF), the Application and the mandatory documents to the email: [email protected]. Please note that the Application Form and respective Application are available on the Municipality's website, during the application period.
Cláudia Guedelha, councilor responsible for Social Action, states that «the support given to families and students in Albufeira through the award of scholarships is one of several measures implemented by the Municipality that aims to reduce social asymmetries. By supporting the training of these young people, future senior management that we need so much, we are, at the same time, contributing to the growth of the critical mass and the development of the municipality, at an educational, cultural, social and economic level", she highlights.
The Scholarships awarded by the Municipality of Albufeira are intended for students resident and enrolled in the municipality who attend higher education courses in TeSP, Bachelor's and Master's degrees, in duly recognized educational institutions, of a public, private and cooperative nature.
