From the 12th to the 18th of August, the GNR detected 672 infractions in the Algarve, as part of operations to prevent and combat violent crime, road inspection, among others.
Of the more than 600 infractions, 197 stand out for speeding, 52 for lack of mandatory periodic inspection, 18 for lack of civil liability insurance, 23 due to lack of or incorrect use of a seat belt and/or child restraint system, 21 related to defects in lighting and signaling systems and 14 due to improper use of a cell phone while driving.
During this period, 59 people were arrested – including 13 for driving under the influence of alcohol, eight for driving without a legal license and four for drug trafficking – and 165 doses of hashish and 40 of cocaine.
There were also 138 accidents, which resulted inTwo seriously injured and 18 lightly injured.
