Unemployment rate rose slightly to 6,5% in May

Data released by INE

The unemployment rate stood at 6,5% in May, an increase of 0,1 percentage points compared to the same month of the previous year and April, according to provisional data released today by the National Statistics Institute (INE).

In the month under analysis, the unemployed population stood at 351.000, having increased by 2,4% compared to the previous month and 3,9% compared to May 2023.

The employed population (5.016.600) remained practically unchanged in relation to the previous month, having increased by 1,3% year-on-year.
