The Orquestra do Algarve, under the direction of its main conductor Martim Sousa Tavares, will perform tomorrow, July 27th, at 21pm, at the Marvão International Music Festival.
The concert, entitled «Gypsy Airs and Scottish Melodies», will feature soloist André Gaio Pereira, on the violin, and will take place in the Ruins of the Roman city of Ammaia,
«For a concert program that will take our orchestra abroad, we are preparing for a great musical journey», highlights Orquestra do Algarve.
«The monumentality of Beethoven's music, with the first of several overtures he wrote for his only opera, “Fidelio”, sets the tone for the impetuosity and drama of “Zigeunerweisen”, or “Gypsy Arias” by Pablo Sarasate, a work iconic song by the legendary virtuoso, which will be performed by the young and already highly acclaimed soloist André Gaio Pereira».
«And finally, the music heads to Scotland, to the sound of Mendelssohn's melodies in what is one of the most beloved and famous symphonies of the 19th century».
This concert closes the Orquestra do Algarve season.
