The Socialist Party (PS) municipal elections, which took place on Friday and Saturday, were won by Tatiana Homem de Gouveia, in Faro, Vitor Aleixo, in Loulé, and Ricardo Calé, in Olhão.
These were the only three municipalities in the Algarve in which the electoral act had more than one list of votes.
Em Faro, Tatiana Homem de Gouveia won with 60% against Adérito Silva. In Loulé, the results were 70% of the votes for Vitor Aleixo and 30% for Abílio Sousa. In Olhão, PS activists chose Ricardo Calé, who received 75% of the votes, leaving João Evaristo with just 25%.
In this exchange of seats, emphasis is placed on the fact that António Miguel Pina may be closer to being the PS candidate for the Chamber of the Algarve capital, this is because he has the support of Tatiana Homem de Gouveia, new president of the socialists in Faro.
Although António Miguel Pina has not yet undertaken his candidacy for municipality, already admitted to Sul Informação who is interested in competing.
In Loulé, it is known that one of the main supporters of the list headed by Aleixo is Telmo Pinto, current president of the Quarteira Parish Council, appointed as one of the names for the Loulé Chamber in 2025.
It was, in fact, in Quarteira, that Vitor Aleixo's list obtained a high number of votes. According to what the Sul Informação It was found that in Loulé (city) Abílio had the most votes.
Finally, in Olhão the dispute took place between two current councilors from the executive led by António Miguel Pina.
Ricardo Calé and João Evaristo joined the executive in 2021 and were, at different times, vice-presidents of the Chamber, in the current term – Ricardo Calé first, João Evaristo later.
Now, Ricardo Calé's victory could mean that the current councilor will be closer to being the candidate for the Olhão Chamber in next year's local elections.
