The Arsénio Catuna Municipal Stadium, in Guia, already has LED lighting that will allow annual savings of around 10 thousand euros.
«The work, now completed, made it possible to provide the grass field with the best existing lighting conditions for sports, with levels suitable for competition, and improved energy efficiency, reducing energy costs by more than 50% in relation to equipment now replaced», says Albufeira City Council.
«This work also allowed the creation of safe access to the lighting towers. In addition, other improvements were made to the existing electrical materials near the changing rooms», he adds.
This was an investment of around 107 thousand euros, which in addition to constituting an improvement in the conditions of use of that space, will also allow for annual energy savings of around 10 thousand euros.
«The path is this, that of energy sustainability, on the one hand, and, on the other, providing more and better conditions for the practice of sport to our citizens», says José Carlos Rolo, president of Albufeira City Council.
The councilor responsible for Sports and Environment Cristiano Cabrita does not hide his satisfaction when he says that «the comfort of our sports practitioners is a very firm objective in our purposes. We are official candidates for the European City of Sport 2026, but even if we weren't, our commitment to the quality of Sport in Albufeira would be the same».
The vice-president of the Municipality also points out that «environmental sustainability is a very big concern. What we do today dictates tomorrow, and we are committed to doing everything we can to respect the planet, as far as we are concerned. We depend on environmental sustainability not only for the economy, but for everything».
The Arsénio Catuna Municipal Stadium is regularly attended by around 300 athletes.
