Portimão Firefighters accept applications to fill ten vacancies on their staff

Applications are open until July 25th

The Portimão Fire Department is accepting applications until the 25th of July to fill 10 vacancies on its staff, eight for professional firefighters and two for telecommunications operators.

The two external competitions that were launched provide for the admission of “firefighters to fill vacancies in the permanent staff, on a professional basis”, as well as emergency telecommunications operators”.

In both competitions, candidates must be between 18 and 40 years old and have completed the 12th year of schooling, and “will be subject to a demanding selection process for admission, through knowledge tests, physical and practical tests, medical and psychotechnical tests and interview".

«The eight best classified, in the final result of the different tests, who apply for the Professional Firefighter Career, join the Portimão Fire Department and have access to a training package for progression within the scope of Pre-Hospital Medical Emergency and also Rescue Specials, namely, rescue ambulance crew, emergency driving techniques, survival techniques, hazardous materials technician, search and rescue in collapsed structures, rescue in ditches, emergency lifts, intervention in vehicles and infrastructures using new technologies, rescue /technical rescue by ropes, whitewater, shoring and unblocking and lifeguard», according to the Portimão Fire Department.

This specialized training package «also provides access to the Special Rescue Group of the Portimão Fire Department, a unit that brings together differentiated skills for interventions in exceptional situations, namely serious accidents or catastrophes».

Also in the case of candidates for Emergency Telecommunications Operators, «the two best classified in the final result of the different tests, join the Portimão Fire Department, in the Telecommunications Operators area of ​​the Municipal Emergency and Civil Protection Center».
