«This 4th Notice comes within the scope of “Measure SM1 – Reducing Water Losses in the Urban Sector” [of the Water Efficiency Plan in the Algarve, framed by the Recovery and Resilience Plan], which is managed by AMAL and has already allowed the approval of 53 applications, corresponding to 42,10 million euros and 157 contracts and acquisition of services. In the vast majority of cases, the works are ongoing», added AMAL.
Measure SM1 integrates three aspects: Requalification of water supply networks; Installation of measuring zones; Control and creation of controlled pressure zones.
At the end of its execution, by March 2026, it is expected that 125 kilometers of water supply network will be rehabilitated and that it will contribute to a reduction of two cubic hectometers in the demand for water in natural systems.
